Mastercard: deposits and withdrawals by card
Mastercard comes in three very different shapes: credit, debit and prepaid. The logo is the same and the cashier often treats them alike for deposits, but they behave differently when you want your money back. This page explains how a Mastercard deposit generally works, how card refunds are handled and why a payment sometimes fails at your own bank before it ever reaches Garage. The methods and limits that apply to you are shown in your account’s cashier.
Go to the offerHow to deposit with Mastercard
- Open the cashier, choose “Deposit” and pick Mastercard.
- Enter the amount you planned for this session — not a round number that feels right in the moment.
- Enter the card details; the cardholder and the account holder must be the same person.
- Confirm in your bank’s app.
- Wait for the balance to update before you join a table or open a market.
Which methods and limits you get depends on your account — check the cashier.
Withdrawals: back to the card or to the bank
Many cashiers work “back to source”: they refund to the card up to the total you deposited with it and pay anything above that by bank transfer. Others accept Mastercard only for deposits. Prepaid cards are commonly excluded from payouts. Before the first withdrawal the operator usually checks your identity and the card, so upload the documents early. Card refunds pass through the card network and your bank and can take longer to show than an e-wallet payout. The step-by-step version is on the withdrawal page.
From a phone
The approval step will usually switch you to your banking app. Confirm there, then return to the browser; leaving the cashier open in the background for too long can cancel the session. If you prefer not to type card numbers on a phone, a card stored in Apple Pay or Google Pay may be offered.
Limits, timing and why they differ
Three parties set limits: the operator per method, your bank per card and per day, and sometimes the card scheme for certain merchant types. That is why two players with the same card brand can see different results. The cashier shows the operator’s side; your bank shows its own.
If a payment gets stuck
Check whether the payment was declined, reserved or charged. A charge without a credited balance goes to the operator’s support with date, amount and the last four card digits. Do not keep retrying.
Why players pick Mastercard
No new account, a familiar approval flow and a clear statement line for each deposit.
Why a payment gets declined
A bank policy against gambling merchants, an online spending cap, an incomplete approval, a card not enabled for payments abroad, or a simple typo in the security code. A call to the bank is faster than repeated attempts.
What is on your side
Matching names, an active card with enough limit, and finishing the approval.
Mastercard and a betting budget
Cards make it easy to reload after a lost bet. A worked example: planning €20 per match day and topping up another €20 after every loss turns three bad evenings into €120 instead of €60. A deposit limit in your account and a fixed stake per bet take that temptation out. More on stakes and odds is in the sports betting section.
